| Pregnancy Symptoms: Missed Menstruation
A delayed or missed menstruation is the most common pregnancy symptom leading a woman to test for pregnancy. When you become pregnant, your next period should be missed. Many women can bleed while they are pregnant, but typically the bleeding will be shorter or lighter than a normal period. This symptom is commonly explained by other reasons. Heparin Overdosage Kills Two Premature Babies at Methodist ...
18 Sep, (foodconsumer.org) - Two premature babies died Saturday at the Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis following the inadvertent administration of adult doses of the blood thinner Heparin, hospital officials confirmed. Four other babies received overdoses of the anti-clotting drug, Sam Odle, chief executive of Methodist and Indiana University Hospitals. One of the babies may require surgery, while the other three are still in a critical condition. Human error was blamed in the deaths of Emmery Miller, 2 days old, and D'myia Alexander Nelson, 5 days old. The babies born at 25 and 26 weeks of gestation likely died from internal bleeding, officials said. Odle said that one baby was shifted to Riley Hospital for Children for further monitoring. "Multiple'' staff members were involved in the "procedural errors,'' Odle said.
Medical News: Sleep Problems, ADHD, Fatty Fish
BOSTON -- In Tuesday's medical news, NewsCenter 5's Heather Unruh reported on a possible explanation for sleep problems, a link between attention problems in children and smoking and another reason to eat fish. Sleeping Problems Allergies may be to blame for poor sleep, researchers said. A study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine examined almost 600 French women and men and found the worse their allergy symptoms, the worse their sleep. The allergy sufferers had more insomnia, woke up more in middle of night, snored more and felt tired during the day. Allergy sufferers also took longer to fall asleep. Fatty Fish Eating more fatty fish, like salmon and tuna, may help prevent kidney cancer in women, according to new research.
